If you’re looking for a middle-of-the-road metal detector then you would want to take a look at the Minelab X-Terra 705. It’s an excellent machine for finding small treasures like coins and jewelry. With the excellent notch discrimination feature, you can include and exclude certain metals you want to search for so that you can laser focus your metal detecting efforts.
The X-Terra comes with a waterproof search coil so you can detect it in shallow water and on the beach. The machine itself is not waterproof so don’t go doing any deepsea detecting with it but if you stay on the beach in shallow water you will be just fine.
This metal detector has both automatic and manual ground balancing something you usually find in the more advanced machines. With these two options of ground balance, you will get fewer false signals when detecting highly mineralized ground.
